Residents' Support was from Nick & Lin, Stewart, Janice (assisted by Bernard) and Nelson Peach (minus Lesley!), with Bernard providing our pre-raffle-ite spot. A very well-attended concert, and the lads didn't disappoint!! Plenty of choruses to join in with, and lots of witty banter in between! The only problem was having to obey the clock and go home...

As ever, our singers, poets and musicians dug deep and produced great stuff - good to see visitors Pen and Pete who just happened to be floating by on the Bridgewater Canal! John always impresses with his fluid guitar style (strongly influenced by Nic Jones), and his singing is easy on the ear... his choice of material is interesting and varied. Stewart Lever commented on our Facebook page: "I thoroughly enjoyed John Barber's set of songs... and the harmonies from our audience."

Bernard started us off this evening, followed by Janice, Nick & Lin and Nelson Peach. Our pre-raffle-ite was Monologue John Bartley, who is doing a Big Spot on 28th January 2016... Needless to say, Mim gave us a lot of joining-in-singy-stuff! It was a warm atmosphere, more a gathering of friends than a concert! Here's a quote from Mim's Facebook page: I don't sing to "perform". I sing to create an atmosphere of musical togetherness and joy. Yesterday morning with the memory club, my heart was overflowing as dear souls sang beautiful folk songs buried deep in their memories. Thanks to Bernard Cromarty and everyone who came along to Lymm last night, the songs once again took centre stage with some amazing harmonies. As the song says "What a feeling !" Happy days xxxx As the end of a perfect evening approached, we were all invited to pick up our instruments to join in with Umgeni - though most drew the line at the ululating!!

THE HAYES SISTERS |

The Hayes Sisters - Cath, Ange & Jenny Hayes - are a local Stockport trio who accompany themselves on banjo and guitars. They are gorgeous singers who perform folk standards and their own original songs in a folky style. The Hayes Sisters, with their three shades of the same voice, do three part harmonies in such union, in a way that only three sisters possibly could! Their new album, "Another Man's Shoes", was produced by none other than the writer of the title track, Clive Gregson, who also appears in some of the tracks!
